Wroxham Accommodation
Wroxham is found on the side of the River Bure and is often referred as ‘the capital of the Norfolk Broads’ due to it being right at the heart of the waterways. Many boating companies are based there and it is a popular spot from where to pick up your boat from at the start of a boating holiday. In July there is the annual regatta which sees boats of all sizes congregate in the open spaces of Wroxham Broad. Even if you do not have your own boat, do not miss the opportunity to take a river trip along the broads with any of the boatyards which are there. Well worth a visit and just a couple of miles north of the village is Wroxham Barns, a collection of beautifully restored 18th century barns set in 10 acres of countryside and housing a community of craftspeople with skills in stained glass, woodturning, stichcraft, pottery and much more. Wroxham is also the southern terminus of the Bure Valley Railway, a nine mile long steam train service running alongside the river and through lovely countryside to the market town of Aylsham. A great destination for a family day out is the Hillside Animal Sanctuary at Frettenham. For those with active young children try the BeWILDerwood Theme Park with its tree houses, zip wires, jungle bridges, story telling and lots more. The historic cathedral city of Norwich is just a short drive away and is a great place for a day away from the river.
