King's Lynn

Originally known as Lin, possibly a throwback to the Celtic word for pool, King's Lynn got its beginnings back around 1100AD with the establishment of a market and the building of St Margaret's church. Trade mushroomed and a thriving port environment led to many merchant houses and trading properties being built, many of which still survive down to this day.

One of King's Lynn's most famous sons was George Vancouver who went on to map the north west coast of America and his legacy lives on both as charts still used by sailors, and a new Vancouver Quarter, a retail sector in the heart of King's Lynn. This is home to a number of retailers both large and small including coffee shops and food outlets.
