A rural tradition with no heavy industry, allied to a coastal location, and an abundance of farms means that local restaurants are supplied with the very freshest of ingredients and so it is no surprise that the area abounds with good quality places to eat. Restaurants have won all sorts of awards for quality over the years with a couple of fine dining establishment meriting a Michelin star.

Cley Windmill gets a mention in the Good Food Guide and is an excellent place for an atmospheric meal with views out over the Norfolk flats to the sea. The Old Forge in Thursford, an old 14th Century coaching station and forge, has won many awards and featured on the BBC a couple of times. They specialize in local seafood prepared to local recipes but you may need to book well in advance to secure a table.
